A.S.Cargo

– A.S.Cargo, “Autonomous Sailing Cargo”, is a patented new concept optimizing the use of containers with sail rigs.

– A.S.Cargo can dock in smaller harbours void of major infrastructures, handling containers without interference between cranes and masts

– A.S.Cargo favors sea deliveries closer to their final land destination, contributing all the more to decarbonization resulting  from sail power.

– A.S.Cargo offers possibilities for new maritime lines between mega hubs and regional harbours.

– A.S.Cargo’s transverse loading is more tolerant to heeling

The illustration describes a 75 meter long ship carrying fifty 40’ containers.
A wider ship fitting 2 x 40’ accross  would be approximately 150 meters long, carrying 400 containers

Cargo Med

Hugues de Turckheim:

– sailed freight schooners in the 1970´s between Surinam and the Caribbean islands
– designed the first soft wingsail foiler, Pi 28 trimaran
– sails for his private use throughout the Mediterranean Sea and around Africa a 55 gross tons work boat he converted into a sailboat.

With his respectful analysis of solutions sailing ancestors made, the consideration of the imperatives of modern life, the need for safety, the limits of what can be asked from a crew, the importance of scheduling and the unlimited use of technology, Hugues de Turckheim proposes a concept named Cargo Med.

Cargo Med is a 75m long ship, 16.5m wide, with a 5m draft, carrying forty eight 40´ containers, powered by 5 ACCWING sails totalling 1560m2.

Seafret 35

Seafret 35 is an inter-island ship imagined by Daniel Ecalard, owner of Compagnie Seafret Caraïbes and designed by naval architect François LUCAS.
The 35m long versatile vessel with a 109 t payload is designed with its shallow draft to facilitate close to coast operations as well as being suitable for ocean crossings.
Its average speed in optimal conditions under sail is 12 knots and 10 knots under engine.
